RAIPUR: Three jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED), planted by Maoists in the past, went off during a demining operation in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Saturday, police said.This was the first blast incident linked to Maoist activity since the state was declared free from armed Maoists on March 31.The explosion occurred in a forest area under the Chhotebethiya police station limits, adjoining Narayanpur district, where a DRG team was carrying out a demining operation to locate and defuse IEDs planted by Maoists in the past, an official said.The DRG is a unit of the state police.Three personnel sustained injuries after coming in contact with the explosive device, and arrangements were being made to ensure proper medical treatment for them, the official said.(With agency inputs)
