NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old judge allegedly died by suicide at his residence in south Delhi’s Green Park on Saturday. Police have initiated inquest proceedings to probe the case. The deceased, Aman Sharma, was secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North East District, at Karkardooma courts.Police said Sharma’s relative contacted police around 1.45pm to report that the judge had locked himself in the bathroom. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and broke open the bathroom windowpane. Sharma was found unresponsive and moved to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police are interviewing family members and awaiting the postmortem report.Sharma completed his BA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018, and joined the Delhi Judicial Services on June 19, 2021. He has handled various criminal and civil matters while serving as judicial magistrate first class and civil judge. On Oct 18, he took charge as full-time secretary at DLSA, Karkardooma Courts. DLSA members did not comment. V K Singh, president of the Shahdara Bar Association, said Sharma was soft-spoken and an introvert.
