Bokaro: Over 600 men, mostly drivers of buses and other commercial vehicles, underwent free eye and general health check-ups at a special camp which was organised here as part of the 36th National Road Safety Month. The camp was set up at the Naya Moad bus stand by the district administration with an aim to curb road accidents in Bokaro.“Medical teams also checked blood pressure levels and advised those found with high readings to take prescribed medication and adequate rest,” Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha said.National Road Safety Month is observed between Jan 1-31 every year.Drivers who attended the health camp were urged to observe traffic rules for their own safety. Doctors associated with the camp said the initiative was aimed at identifying health issues among drivers that could affect road safety, particularly vision-related problems.The programme was jointly organised by the district transport department and the district health department under the Road Safety Month campaign.
