Guwahati: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy to strengthen its commitment to nation-building through education.The agreement was signed recently at the office of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.The MoU was formally signed by Shashi Tripathi, president of NWWA, and commodore SM Urooj Athar on behalf of the Indian Navy, while Prof. DN Singh, registrar (academics), signed for RGU.Under the partnership, RGU will introduce two scholarship categories — Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha — designed to provide quality higher education opportunities for eligible dependants and wards of defence personnel, including serving personnel, ex-servicemen, personnel with disabilities, and those who died in harness.The university will offer ‘Royal Shaurya’, a 100% scholarship for the families of martyrs and gallantry awardees, and ‘Royal Suraksha’, which will provide 50% tuition fee support to the wards of serving and retired defence personnel.
