CEC holds review meeting for first-phase polling in Bengal

NEW DELHI: A day before campaigning for the first phase of polls in Bengal winds up, CEC Gyanesh Kumar reviewed polling arrangements in the state. “EC will leave no stone unturned to hold elections that are fear-free, violence-free, intimidation-free, inducement-free, chhaapa-free, booth jamming-free and source jamming-free,” he said Monday.

EC suspends Bhowanipore executive magistrates

EC has suspended two employees from the West Bengal government and one from the Centre for ‘dereliction of poll duty’. Souvik Nandy, a teacher; Suranjan Das, UDC, stationery office; and Satyaranjan Paul, LDC, Sports Authority of India, were entrusted to function as Bhowanipore executive magistrates.
