With the 30th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the New York Jets selected Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper on Thursday evening.
The Miami Dolphins originally acquired pick No. 30 (plus third- and fourth-round picks) in a trade with the Denver Broncos in exchange for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick last month. Miami then turned around and packaged the 30th pick in a trade with the Niners on Thursday, and the pick wasn’t done changing hands after that.
The Dolphins moved up to pick No. 27 select San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson, sending picks Nos. 30 and 90 to the 49ers in exchange for picks Nos. 27 and 138. San Francisco then traded No. 30 to New York in exchange for picks Nos. 33 and 179. The Jets used it to add Cooper.
Following the Waddle trade, the Broncos do not hold a first-round pick in this year’s draft. Denver’s scheduled to make its first pick of the draft in the second round (No. 62 overall) on Friday evening.
Waddle was essentially the team’s first-round pick this year, and after he surpassed 5,000 receiving yards and scored 27 touchdowns through his first four seasons, the Waddle “pick” should earn the Broncos an “A” grade.
The draft will continue with Rounds 2-3 on Friday evening, followed by Rounds 4-7 on Saturday. Denver currently holds seven total picks, but that could change after trades.
