The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing well of late, currently sitting at 20-10 on the 2026 MLB season despite a recent loss to the Miami Marlins at home. The Dodgers have already dealt with some troubles on the injury front this year, as shortstop Mookie Betts has been out of the lineup with an oblique strain.

However, on Wednesday, the Dodgers got a positive update regarding the star’s status moving forward.
“Mookie Betts said he was sore the day after hitting BP off coaches. Once he tries that again and wakes up without any soreness is another big check point. Betts said he was told 4-6 weeks to return from his oblique strain, but believes he’s ahead of schedule,” reported David Vassegh of AM 750 LA Sports on X, formerly Twitter.
Meanwhile, a video from Vassegh showed Betts working through some practice reps before Wednesday’s game vs the Marlins.
The Dodgers would certainly like to have Betts back in the lineup as soon as possible, although they have plenty of talent to hold down the fort in the meantime.

The Dodgers currently sit in first place in the NL West, a half game above the San Diego Padres, who have shaken off a rough start to the season to surge up the standings. Los Angeles trails only the Atlanta Braves for the best record in the entire MLB landscape.
Once Betts gets back in the lineup, the Dodgers figure to take another step closer toward being able to defend their World Series title for a second straight year.
The Dodgers’ next game following Wednesday afternoon’s series finale against the Marlins is slated for Friday on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals.
