GURGAON: Four members of a family were seriously injured after a speeding black Mahindra Thar rammed into their car near Sohna Chowk, just metres from the Police Commissioner’s office, early on Friday morning.The accident occurred around 4. 30am when the family had just begun their journey for a religious pilgrimage and were travelling on Shivaji Nagar Road. As they reached the Sohna Chowk intersection, a black Mahindra Thar coming from the Rajiv Chowk side rammed into their Baleno, triggering the collision.The impact was so severe that the family’s car was extensively damaged, while the Thar overturned after the crash.The injured were identified as Divyansh Chadha, Yashika Chadha, Lavi Chadha and Meenakshi Chadha. Two of the four family members are reported to be in a critical condition.The victims were trapped inside the mangled Baleno and were rescued by three traffic personnel — Constable Nitish and Home Guards Manish and Vikas. They pulled the family out of the vehicle and rushed them to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, where they are undergoing treatment.Eyewitnesses said the Thar was travelling at a very high speed when it struck the car, with the force of the collision causing the SUV to overturn.According to people at the scene and the injured family’s relatives, the occupants of the Thar appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses also recorded videos and took photographs of the SUV occupants. They alleged that three young men were travelling in the vehicle. Following the crash, two of them fled the scene, while one was caught by local residents before police arrived.Police reached the spot soon after the accident, seized both vehicles and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and allegations that the driver was intoxicated are also being verified. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
