Officials have not yet made public the charges linked to the latest arrest. The Tate brothers were arrested in Bucharest, Romania, in late 2022 along with two Romanian women. Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) alleged that the group formed a criminal organization in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, the United States and Britain.In 2023, Romanian prosecutors formally charged Andrew and Tristan Tate with human trafficking and rape. The brothers have denied all the allegations. According to Reuters, a Romanian court later removed the preventive judicial control measures while investigations continued.Separately, the BBC reported in May 2025 that British prosecutors authorized 21 charges against the brothers. Andrew Tate faces 10 charges linked to three alleged victims, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking. Tristan Tate faces 11 charges connected to one alleged victim, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking. The brothers deny those allegations as well.In February 2025, Romanian authorities lifted a travel ban, allowing the brothers to travel to the United States while their legal cases remained active.
