Officials have not yet made public the charges linked to the latest arrest. The development has once again put the spotlight on the brothers, who have spent the last few years facing serious legal cases in Romania while continuing to deny any wrongdoing. Tristan is often seen alongside Andrew, but many people still want to know who he is and why both brothers have been under investigation.

Tristan Tate, 36, is a dual U.S.-British citizen and the younger brother of Andrew Tate, 38. Like his brother, Tristan is a former professional kickboxer before becoming a social media personality. While Andrew built a larger online following, Tristan has regularly appeared in videos, podcasts and public events with him, and the two have often presented themselves as business partners.Andrew first became widely known after appearing on the U.K. reality show Big Brother in 2016. The Tate brothers were arrested in Bucharest, Romania, in late 2022 along with two Romanian women. Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) alleged that the group formed a criminal organization in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, the United States and Britain.In 2023, Romanian prosecutors formally charged Andrew and Tristan Tate with human trafficking and rape. The brothers have denied all the allegations. According to Reuters, a Romanian court later removed the preventive judicial control measures while investigations continued.Separately, the BBC reported in May 2025 that British prosecutors authorized 21 charges against the brothers. Andrew Tate faces 10 charges linked to three alleged victims, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking. Tristan Tate faces 11 charges connected to one alleged victim, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking. The brothers deny those allegations as well.In February 2025, Romanian authorities lifted a travel ban, allowing the brothers to travel to the United States while their legal cases remained active. However, Romanian prosecutors said judicial conditions still required them to appear before authorities whenever summoned.Now, after their latest arrest in Miami, attention has once again turned to the legal cases surrounding Andrew and Tristan Tate.
