T’puram: Digital University Kerala (DUK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kerala-based commercial satellite company HEX20 to jointly design and implement a specialized hands-on training programme in satellite technology, aimed at preparing students for careers in the rapidly expanding space sector.The partnership seeks to provide selected students from India and abroad with practical training in satellite subsystem design, assembly, integration and testing. The programme is intended to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial experience by exposing participants to live satellite engineering projects.Under the collaboration, students will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced satellite engineers and domain experts on actual satellite systems, enabling them to gain in-depth knowledge of engineering processes and operational practices. The initiative is expected to enhance their employability in the global space technology industry.As part of the agreement, HEX20 will provide seasoned satellite engineers and technical experts to lead the training programme, while DUK will ensure the necessary academic environment and institutional support for its successful implementation.The MoU was signed by DUK registrar Jayashankar R Nair and HEX20 chief executive officer Amal Chandran in the presence of vice-chancellor Saji Gopinath and other senior officials.University officials described the collaboration as a significant step towards strengthening industry-academia partnerships and creating globally competitive learning opportunities in satellite engineering and space technology. They said the initiative would equip students with industry-relevant skills while contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce to support India’s growing space and satellite ecosystem.
