Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday launched the ‘Mee Bhoomi-Blockchain’ pilot project, describing it as a key step towards making Andhra Pradesh a land litigation-free state by providing permanent security to land records and preventing tampering.Launching the project virtually from the secretariat, CM Naidu said the coalition govt was addressing land issues through a three-pronged approach of record purification, dispute resolution and long-term security. He said the blockchain-based platform would help eliminate fraud and reduce disputes arising from deficiencies in land records.Officials informed the chief minister that the system was designed to create a single source of truth for land records by integrating data from the revenue, survey and registration departments onto a common platform. Each land parcel will be assigned a unique digital identity, with all transactions recorded through a tamper-proof blockchain architecture.According to officials, the new system is expected to prevent issues such as double registrations, one of the major causes of land disputes. Any changes to records will be traceable, while transactions involving discrepancies can be flagged automatically.The blockchain platform has been developed jointly by NIC Andhra Pradesh and the Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology at NIC Bengaluru using Hyperledger Fabric technology.Addressing officials after the launch, Naidu said land disputes and frauds often arise due to inaccurate or incomplete records. He said that land-related litigation increased in recent years and said the govt was undertaking surveys, updating records and issuing pattadar passbooks as part of a wider effort to resolve pending revenue issues.The chief minister said villages where resurveys have been completed would be brought under the blockchain system. He directed officials to study implementation of the pilot project for two months, establish a complaint mechanism to identify shortcomings and make necessary improvements before scaling it up across the state.Naidu asked officials to ensure integration of QR code and Aadhaar-based features into the system and said the govt aims to roll out the platform statewide from Nov.The pilot project is being implemented in Aspari (Kurnool), Penumuru (Chittoor), Repalle (Bapatla), Gannavaram (Krishna), Kadiyam (East Godavari), Gummalakshmipuram (Parvathipuram Manyam) and Kothavalasa (Vizianagaram) mandals.
