active pattern brings waves of storms, some strong, through mid-week

Date:

MONDAY: A disturbance will lift a stalled cold front back north through the Mid-South by early afternoon. Highs in the middle 70s ahead of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Strong to severe potential with large hail and damaging winds, mainly south of I-40. The severe window closes after sunset with lingering showers overnight. Lows will drop into the 60s.

TUESDAY: Warm and breezy with highs near 80 degrees. Gusty winds up to 35 mph possible amid mostly cloudy skies. A few spotty storms possible late. With those storms, the severe threat remains limited and low. Lows will fall into the middle 60s.

WEDNESDAY: FIRST ALERT – An active day as a cold front approaches Wednesday afternoon. Warm and breezy with highs in the 70s; gusts 30-40 mph. Storms could turn strong to severe with damaging winds as the primary threat. Hail and tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Expect 1-3 inches of rain with localized flooding potential. Keep a heightened level of weather awareness. Storms exit late with temperatures falling into the 40s by early Thursday.

THURSDAY & BEYOND: High pressure builds in behind the front. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s Thursday with mostly sunny skies. Above-normal conditions amid brighter sunshine return Friday-weekend with highs in the 70s. Dry through the weekend; another front brings cooler conditions into early next week.
