WBSSC SLST 2025: Document verification and interview dates announced for classes 9 to 12, details here
WBSSC SLST 2025 document verification and interview dates announced

The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has announced the next phase of recruitment under the Second State Level Selection Test (SLST) 2025 for assistant teacher posts in government-aided schools across the state. The document verification and interviews for candidates shortlisted for teaching positions in Classes 9–12 will begin on March 23, 2026.The large-scale recruitment exercise aims to fill over 35,000 assistant teacher vacancies in secondary and higher secondary schools in West Bengal. Candidates who have been shortlisted are required to download their intimation letters from the official WBSSC website to check their reporting dates, venue details, and interview schedule.

Document verification and interview schedule

The WBSSC will conduct the document verification and interview process between March 23 and May 23, 2026 for candidates applying to teach in Classes 9–10 and 11–12. The process will be carried out at district-level regional offices of the commission for most candidates. However, counselling and related procedures for higher secondary level posts will be conducted centrally at the WBSSC headquarters Acharya Sadan. According to officials, this phase will run from March 24 to May 8.Candidates must carry all required academic certificates, identity documents, and other relevant records during verification. Failure to attend the scheduled verification or interview will lead to disqualification from the recruitment process.

Recruitment drive aims to fill teacher shortage

The SLST 2025 recruitment drive is expected to fill more than 35,000 assistant teacher posts in state-run aided schools across West Bengal. The move is part of the state government’s effort to address teacher shortages in several institutions.Among the vacancies are 18,617 assistant teacher posts for Classes 9–12 in state-aided schools. These posts are linked to positions that became vacant after the April 3, 2025 order of the Supreme Court of India, which invalidated the appointments of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff recruited through the 2016 SLST process after it was found to be irregular.Officials indicated that the ongoing recruitment exercise will continue even during the election period to ensure that vacant teaching positions are filled without delay.

How the final merit list will be prepared

The final merit list for SLST 2025 candidates will be prepared based on multiple evaluation components. These include:

  • Marks obtained in the written examination
  • Academic qualifications
  • Interview performance
  • Lecture demonstration conducted during the selection process

The combined score from these components will determine the final selection of candidates for assistant teacher posts in secondary and higher secondary schools across the state.
