In 2015, Kannada director Pavan Wadeyar brought Adah Sharma to Kannada films. She had only done a few movies then. He paired her with the late Puneeth Rajkumar in ‘Rana Vikrama.’ Even after this big start, she didn’t do another Kannada film until now. Known for the award-winning ‘The Kerala Story,’ she’s now in ‘Ramarasa,’ set for release in June 2026.
Why Adah Sharma chose ‘Ramarasa’
In a chat with Variety India, when asked what drew her to ‘Ramarasa,’ a film led by Karthik Mahesh, who lacks the star power of her debut, Adah replied, “I don’t pick films based on the star cast attached to them. I believe that is the director’s prerogative. I should trust the director and that he/she is going to make a good film. I will enjoy being a part of it and maybe learn something.”
Adah Sharma on one film per year
Discussing her one-film-per-year pace since 2008, she shared, “For me, the number of films isn’t a monthly attendance sheet. I like people to remember my performances. Characters sometimes become more real for people than the actual person. For me, it’s not just quality over quantity but also trying a mix of unpredictability so people can’t put me in a box.”
‘Ramarasa’ director and cast
‘Ramarasa’ is directed by BM Giriraj, known for ‘Jatta’ and ‘Mythri,’ while Guru Deshpande steps in only as producer. Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10 winner Karthik Mahesh leads the cast, joined by Hebbah Patel, Sharan, and others.
