‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, continues its record-breaking run at the global box office. ‘Dhurandhar 2 ‘ vs ‘Dhurandhar’
The film has so far amassed an estimated Rs 1,361.95 crore worldwide. From the said total, an estimated gross total of Rs 1,011.95 crore from India and Rs 350 crore from overseas markets.In comparison, the sequel has now shot past the predecessor, ‘Dhurandhar’ which achieved a worldwide gross of Rs 1,307.35 crore with an estimated India collection of Rs 1,007.85 crore and overseas total of Rs 299.50 crore.
‘Dhurandhar’ films’ net collections
As far as net collections are concerned, the film earned an estimated total of Rs 840.20 crore over its theatrical run, while ‘The Revenge’ earned a net collection estimated at Rs 846.87 crore.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ breaks ‘Dhurandhar’ record in just 11 days
Interestingly, it took ‘Dhurandhar 2’ just 11 days to officially outperform the lifetime collections of the first instalment, which took 104 days to reach similar milestones. As the film completed 11 days at the box office, the original film had earned an estimated Rs 381.25 crore net in India, whereas the sequel surged ahead by crossing the Rs 300 crore mark in its first weekend and earning an additional Rs 465.62 crore net by itsecond weekend at the box office.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ record-breaking North American box office performance
The film has also delivered record-breaking overseas numbers. In North America, the film crossed USD 20.80 million within nine days and has since reached a cumulative total haul of USD 22.9 million. Coupled with the epic numbers the film has also stayed in the top 5 spots of highest-earning films at the North American box office, even into its second weekend.The achievement won praise from team ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion‘, who wrote in a congratulatory post on their offficial handle which read, “Congratulations to @AdityaDharFilms and the entire team of #Dhurandhar2TheRevenge on breaking the 9-year-old records of #Baahubali2 and setting new box office benchmarks in India, USA and worldwide!”
‘Dhurandhar 2’ chasing title of highest-grossing Indian film of all time
With no major competing releases in sight, trade gurus now have their eyes fixed on whether ‘Dhurandhar 2’ can challenge the all-time Indian box office leaders, including Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, which currently boasts of a Rs 2,070 crore woldwde collection and ‘Baahubali 2‘ which currently occupies the second spot with a worldwide total haul of Rs 1,788 crore and ‘Pushpa 2’ taking up the third spot with Rs 1,742 crore.
