The climax of the Elbaph Arc is finally upon us, and with it, One Piece has entered its most exciting stage after a 28-year-long serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. In its long run, One Piece has made sure to pay due attention to all the major characters, while saving quite a few for the last stretch where their importance is paramount. Eiichiro has also revealed quite a lot of exciting abilities over the years, while also saving the most important ones for last.
The climax of the Elbaph Arc of One Piece recently revealed two monstrously powerful Devil Fruit abilities: Loki’s Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, in Chapter 1175, and Nerona Imu’s Akuma no Mi in Chapter 1179. With the reveal of these two monstrously powerful abilities, only one major Devil Fruit remains to be unveiled, and that is Monkey D. Dragon’s unnamed ability, which will officially be tackled following the conclusion of the Elbaph arc.
One Piece Will Reveal The Power Of Monkey D. Dragon’s Devil Fruit After Nerona Imu’s Akuma no Mi and Loki’s Nidhoggr
Monkey D. Dragon was teased to be a Devil Fruit user long ago in the story. In chapter 100 of the manga, which officially came out in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 37-38 on August 9, 1999, Monkey D. Dragon showcased his Devil Fruit powers for the very first time. When he came to Logue Town, he brought with him strong currents and completely altered the weather of the entire island. He also did a lightning strike, freeing Luffy from the execution platform and setting him out on his path to claiming the One Piece. At the same time, he also stopped Smoker and then used the winds of his mysterious ability to propel the Straw Hats forward on their path to escaping from Logue Town.
“Luffy, hurry! Run for it or we’ll be forever trapped on this island! A huge storm is coming!” — Roronoa Zoro after being hit by Dragon’s Wind in One Piece Chapter 100
Dragon also officially showcased his abilities again when Grey Terminal was being burned in Chapter 587 of the manga. This time he used his wind to blow the flames away and open a path for all the people who were doomed to die in the flames, taking them in as part of the Revolutionary Army. Clearly, Monkey D. Dragon’s Devil Fruit ability has slowly been built up by Eiichiro Oda, and a reveal is just around the corner.

Loki’s black dragon Devil Fruit has finally been revealed, and it is one of the strongest in One Piece history.
Why Dragon’s Devil Fruit Is The Last Big Ability Reveal In The Final Saga
So far, the climax of the Elbaph arc of One Piece introduced the biggest and most powerful abilities to the fans, in the Nidhoggr and Akuma no Mi. The Nidhoggr has existed since before the time of the Void Century, and his role long ago in the Great War is clearly portrayed by Eiichiro Oda in chapters 1180 and 1181 of the manga. The narrative importance of the Nidhoggr is absolutely immense and is comparable to that of the Sun God Nika.
Similarly, the Akuma no Mi, which is the power that Imu holds, is tremendous as well, and given that Imu is the ultimate villain of the series, this Devil Fruit ability is also of paramount importance in the overarching narrative of the One Piece World. Few Devil Fruits are as important as these, and Monkey D. Dragon’s ability is going to be the last big one that will be revealed in the story.
When it comes to the Devil Fruit users of the One Piece world, the vast majority of the big shots have shown their powers already. All the Yonko who had Devil Fruit abilities have had their powers revealed by this point in the story. The same applies to the Admirals of the Marines as well, and any other Navy member. Similarly, all the Shichibukai who had Devil Fruit powers have had their abilities revealed. Even among the Five Elders and the Holy Knights, the vast majority have shown their power.
In fact, the ultimate villain of One Piece, Nerona Imu, who stands at the pinnacle of the world as its King, has also had his abilities finally unveiled in the form of the Akuma no Mi in chapter 1179. As such, there is only one character whose Devil Fruit powers Eiichiro Oda is saving now, and that is none other than Monkey D. Dragon, the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army and Luffy’s very own father. Following the events of Elbaph, Eiichiro Oda will shift the focus towards the growing war in the world.
Of course, these are not the kind of people to stay quiet under duress. If they mobilize the Holy Knights…that’s where the fighting will begin! — Monkey D. Dragon, One Piece chapter 1085
Dragon has drawn first blood by striking at Marijoa and laying siege to the Holy Land, cutting off all food supply in the process. Similarly, the World Government has responded by mobilizing the Holy Knights. A clash between the Revolutionary Army and the World Government is on the horizon and might even have begun already. While the focus remains on Elbaph, immediately after this arc, Monkey D. Dragon’s abilities could finally be unleashed for the very first time in 26 years.

All Powers and Abilities Of Monkey D. Dragon So Far
Monkey D. Dragon is one of the strongest characters in One Piece, as is expected of the figure that leads the Revolutionary Army, which is an organization that directly challenges the World Government. So far, not many of Dragon’s powers have been confirmed. Eiichiro Oda has implied that Dragon is a user of Ryusouken, which is a unique martial arts style that he has drilled into Sabo as well. More than that, Dragon is a confirmed user of all Haki types, as clearly indicated by Garp’s comments in chapter 570 of the One Piece manga.
Dragon having Haki of all three types does not come as a surprise at all, but more than that, his biggest strength is his Devil Fruit ability, which allows him to manipulate winds, cause thunderstorms, and even bring down lightning from the sky. While it is unclear as to what his ability truly is, it appears increasingly likely that Dragon has a Storm Logia. This fruit is surey going to take him straight to the highest tier of strength within the world of One Piece and make him a ferocious fighter that all the fans would absolutely love to watch in combat. With Oda having already confirmed that the Elbaph arc will end in 2026, it is highly likely that the time for Dragon to show his powers is now here. All fans need to do is be patient for a bit longer.
