With three WNBA championships, four MVPs, three DPOYs, and four Finals MVPs in just eight years, A’ja Wilson already has a claim to WNBA greatness. But she’s far from done. The 2026 season will be all about adding more individual awards, winning another championship, and soaring up the all-time scoring list.
Wilson is currently number 21 on the all-time scoring list, but will notably improve her standing if she’s healthy and playing all season. Her rise will almost definitely come at the expense of two members of the Aces. Becky Hammon and Jewell Loyd are currently ahead of Wilson on the all-time scoring list, but might not be for much longer.
Wilson should be able to catch Hammon pretty easily
Hammon is currently nineteenth on the all-time scoring list with 5841 points. That’s 122 points ahead of Wilson—light work for the reigning MVP. She scored 937 points last season and 1021 in 2024 when she became the first player ever to score at least 1000 points in a single season.
Hammon, who retired from playing in 2014, has no chance to add to her point total and thus no way to avoid falling on the all-time scoring list. At the same time, however, when Wilson overtakes her, it will make headlines and that will draw attention to a great playing career from someone most of the many new WNBA fans only know as a coach.
Jewell Loyd and A’ja Wilson will find themselves locked in a close race
Loyd is currently 14th on the all-time scoring list—six players ahead of Wilson (Seimone Augustus and Lauren Jackson share the final spot in the top 15)—with 6027 points.
If Wilson has a rather quiet season compared to the last few years and scores “only” 900 points, she will be 592 points ahead of Loyd and leapfrog into the top ten.
Unlike Hammon, Loyd is still active, though. So, she will also continue to climb up the standings and add to her point total. She scored 491 points in her first season with the Aces but should be able to put up more points now that she is more comfortable with the system and her new teammates.
A 600-point season would be enough to leapfrog Lisa Leslie, Sylvia Fowles, Katie Smith, and Candace Parker to land just outside the top ten. It might not be enough to delay being overtaken by Wilson for another season, though.
