Dhanbad: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted with the Dumka CID, Shailu Prabha Jayanti Tirkey, died in a road accident near the ISM gate in Dhanbad on Monday.Tirkey, 36, was travelling from Ranchi to Dumka with her husband, Suresh Oraon on a bike to rejoin duty after visiting her home in Morabadi Saraitand in Ranchi, where she had gone to celebrate Sarhul.The accident occurred when an auto-rickshaw approached from one side while their motorcycle was coming from the other.In an attempt to avoid a collision, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, causing Tirkey to fall onto the road and sustain critical injuries. The accident took place around 1:30 pm.Local residents immediately took her to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad, but she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.Her husband is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be stable, hospital officials said. An FIR was yet to be lodged in the evening.
