'Audiobooks are transforming the way readers engage with ideas and stories today'

“Audiobooks are a great way to fit in some extra reading time, especially if you have a busy schedule,” says ChatGPT. You can listen to audiobooks while excercising, walking, commuting, or even while waiting for others.

Readers who prefer stories in their ears rather than on the page have a growing new catalogue to explore. On Monday, Bloomsbury India announced that it will roll out a wide range of audiobooks in both English and Hindi, expanding access to several of its most notable nonfiction and narrative titles for audiences around the world.Speaking on the occasion, Bloomsbury India Managing Director, Rahul Srivastava said,“Audiobooks are transforming the way readers engage with ideas and stories today. With our growing catalogue in both English and Hindi, we are excited to bring some of Bloomsbury India’s most meaningful works to listeners everywhere. As we approach the auspicious festival of Navratri, it is also a wonderful moment to reconnect with the wisdom of India’s timeless epics. Through audiobooks like Ramayana Unravelled and Mahabharata Unravelled, listeners can rediscover the enduring values, dilemmas and lessons that continue to guide our cultural and moral imagination”.As the festive season approaches, Bloomsbury India highlights the enduring relevance of India’s epics during Navratri, which begins on 19 March and culminates with Rama Navami.A note from the publishing house states,”For centuries, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata have shaped the Indian imagination and our sense of virtue. These timeless narratives explore life’s dilemmas, relationships, justice, faith and the nuanced understanding of Dharma—questions that remain deeply relevant even today. At the request of readers, Ami Ganatra’s Ramayana Unravelled and Mahabharata Unravelled are now available as audiobooks on Audible in Hindi and English, offering listeners a chance to immerse themselves in the wisdom and emotions of the epics during drives, work or quiet moments—making Navratri an apt time to begin the journey leading up to Rama Navami. The note lists other audiobooks that will be available soon include Driven (English & Hindi) by Vijay Lokapally, an intimate portrait of Virat Kohli; Live While You’re Alive (English) by bestselling author Shiv Khera along with its Hindi edition Jio Jab Tak Zinda Ho; and Own Your Body (English & Hindi) by Dr Shiv Kumar Sarin, India That Is Bharat (English & Hindi) by J. Sai Deepak, and The Golden Road (English) by William Dalrymple, which explores India’s far-reaching influence across ancient Eurasia—from Angkor Wat to the spread of Buddhism in China. The audiobooks are being released across major global platforms, including Audible, Spotify, Google Play Books, Apple Books, Nook, Kobo Books, Libro.fm, and XigXag, making them accessible to listeners across different markets and devices.Bloomsbury executives say,”Aggregators Bookwire and Gardners are also distributing the audiobooks across multiple platforms and retailers, both locally and internationally.”
