Several online users trolled Bibin’s character in the movie, mocking it as a low-quality version of Dulquer Salmaan‘s character ‘Charlie’.Bibin has now opened up about a heartfelt gesture from Dulquer Salmaan that left a lasting impression on him.During a recent interview with Reporter Business, Bibin recalled receiving a personal message from Dulquer while facing intense trolling on social media after ‘Koodal’ was released.According to Bibin, Dulquer reached out to encourage him when online criticism surrounding his performance peaked.
‘Koodal’ led to widespread comparisons with ‘Charlie’
Bibin explained that the trolling started after ‘Koodal’ began streaming. Many social media users claimed that his character resembled Charlie, the much-loved character portrayed by Dulquer Salmaan in the 2015 film of the same name.
Dulquer Salmaan reached out with a personal message
Recalling that difficult phase, Bibin said Dulquer personally contacted him and asked him not to be affected by the online criticism.Bibin said, “DQ is a good human being. When Koodal was released, I had to face a lot of trolling because people said I had tried to become like Charlie and failed. There were countless trolls. During that time, DQ sent me a message and told me not to take it to heart.”The actor said the message arrived when he needed encouragement the most and helped him deal with the negativity surrounding the film.
Dulquer Salmaan shared his own experience with trolls
Bibin further revealed that Dulquer also spoke about the criticism he faced during the early years of his acting career. According to him, the actor shared his own experiences to reassure him that online trolling is something many performers go through.Bibin added, “He told me that he too had faced many trolls. He spoke about the criticism he received in the early days of his career. Just think about it—someone as busy as him took the time to send me a message to comfort me. That made me genuinely happy.”

Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan had previously collaborated with Dulquer Salmaan on ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’. The duo wrote the screenplay for the 2019 entertainer, which featured Dulquer in the lead role.In the film, Dulquer played Lallu, while Bibin appeared as the antagonist Davis Karikkan.
