The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) preliminary examination result 2026. Candidates who appeared for the Daroga recruitment exam can now check and download the merit list from the commission’s official website — bpssc.bihar.gov.in.The result has been published in PDF format, listing the roll numbers of candidates shortlisted for the next stage of the recruitment process — the main written competitive examination. The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 1,799 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police in the Home Department (Police Branch), Government of Bihar.
Over 7.26 lakh candidates appeared for the Bihar Police SI prelims exam
According to the commission, the recruitment process is being conducted under Advertisement No. 05/2025, which was issued on September 23, 2025 for direct recruitment to 1,799 SI posts.A total of 10,36,702 candidates had registered for the preliminary examination. Out of them, 7,26,231 candidates appeared for the exam conducted in two shifts on January 18 and January 21, 2026.However, 29,272 candidates were disqualified due to various procedural errors and misconduct during the examination process. The reasons cited by the commission include:
- Misconduct: 14 candidates
- Wrong roll number on OMR answer sheet: 14,591 candidates
- Incorrect question booklet number on OMR: 9,992 candidates
- Failure to sign the OMR sheet: 529 candidates
- Did not write Hindi paragraph: 1,139 candidates
- Did not write English paragraph: 2,851 candidates
- Did not write both Hindi and English paragraphs: 156 candidates
After excluding these candidates, the answer sheets of 6,96,959 candidates were evaluated.
Candidates shortlisted for mains examination
As per the recruitment rules, the commission has shortlisted candidates up to 20 times the number of vacancies in each reservation category based on their performance in the preliminary examination.These shortlisted candidates will now be eligible to appear for the Bihar Police SI main written competitive examination, which will be the next stage in the selection process.Further details regarding the mains exam schedule and admit cards are expected to be released soon on the BPSSC website.
