DC Studios is daring fans to ‘look fear in the face’ with the release of the teaser trailer for their upcoming horror film ‘Clayface’. The film that is scheduled for release later this year, brings to screens the iconic shape-shifting Batman villain.Tom Rhys Harries debuts as ClayfaceDirected by James Watkins, and starring Tom Rhys Harries, the horror film will reportedly explore the origin story of the iconic character – Matt Hagen. The film, much like the comics, features Matt as a struggling actor who undergoes an experimental medical procedure after his face is left disfigured in a knife attack.While the treatment is initially successful, it quickly spirals into a horrow show, transforming Matt’s face into a clay-like substance capable of reshaping into different forms.Clayface trailerThe trailer opens with Hagen lying in a hospital bed, with his face in bandages and on a feeding tube. The clip then flashes to moments in his life, depicting his slow physical deterioration, causing his face to morph dramatically, losing all his chiselled features.The film also stars Naomi Ackie, alongside David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan.About ClayfaceClayface is one of the earliest villains in the Batman universe, making his debut in Detective Comics #40 in June 1940. Known for his ability to alter his appearance, the character has appeared across films, television series, animated projects and video games over the decades.The film marks a major upcoming release for DC Studios film following the release of ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, which is set to arrive in theatres on June 26. James Gunn and Peter Safran, who currently head DC, took to their social media handles to share the trailer of the film that was initially slated for an early September release. However, the makers decided to push back the release by a month, opting instead to releae their film on October 23.
