Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday inaugurated beautification and development projects at Bhadra Ghat, Mahavir Ghat and Naujar Ghat along the Ganga in Patna City, marking the completion of riverfront works executed by the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco) at a cost of Rs 46.26 crore.The three ghats have been upgraded with modern civic amenities to provide safer, cleaner and more convenient access to the river for residents and devotees. The projects are part of the state’s efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure and transform previously kutcha riverbanks into permanent public spaces.Following the inauguration, Choudhary inspected the facilities and reviewed the completed works. Department officials briefed him on the project layout and infrastructure created under the scheme. The CM offered prayers to Maa Ganga and sought peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Bihar.According to officials, the upgraded ghats feature permanent bathing and worship areas, modern walkways, high-mast lighting, security barricades and sanitation facilities. The improved infrastructure is expected to enhance safety and ease crowd movement, especially during major religious gatherings.Officials said the permanent ghats would be particularly beneficial during Chhath Mahaparv, when thousands of devotees congregate on the riverbanks to perform rituals. The facilities will also support daily activities such as bathing, worship and community gatherings.Local public representatives and urban development and housing department officials welcomed the CM with bouquets and angavastra, while residents greeted him with flower showers. MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha, Patna Municipal Corporation mayor Sita Sahu, deputy mayor Reshmi Kumari and other senior officials were present at the event.
