Delhi car crash: Mercedes G63 hits 3 near Vasant Kunj's Ambience mall; one dead, driver arrested

NEW DELHI: A man died and two others were injured after being hit by a Mercedes near Nelson Mandela Marg in South West Delhi’s Vasant Kunj in the early hours of Sunday. According to police officials, a PCR call reporting the accident was received at around 2:33 am at the Vasant Kunj North police station. A team from the station rushed to the spot, where they found a Mercedes G63 in a severely damaged condition. Three men—aged 23, 35, and 23—were found lying injured. All three worked at a restaurant in Ambience Mall and are believed to have been waiting at an auto stand when the luxury vehicle rammed into them. The victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Rohit (23), a resident of Chamoli in Uttarakhand, was declared brought dead on arrival. The other two injured men remain under treatment. Police have apprehended the alleged driver, Shivam (29), a resident of Karol Bagh. He was reportedly returning home after attending a wedding and was accompanied by his wife and elder brother at the time of the crash. Preliminary inquiry indicates that the vehicle lost balance due to a road diversion, causing it to veer off the road, hit a pole, and strike the three men. The Mercedes is registered in the name of Abhishek, a friend of the accused driver, police said.
