NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Tuesday dismissed allegations by the CJP’s chief spokesperson that security personnel used pellet guns against protesters during the “Chalo Sansad” march, calling the claim “completely false and misleading”. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das had shared a video on his official X account alleging that police fired pellet guns at peaceful protesters, according to news agency PTI. The post included footage of a man receiving treatment in a hospital, with the claim that he had suffered pellet injuries during the protest. In response, Delhi Police issued a “Fake News Alert” on its official X handle and denied the allegation.“Reports claiming that police forces are using pellet guns against peaceful protesters are completely false and misleading,” the police said. The police also appealed to the public not to share or circulate unverified content and urged people to rely on official sources to verify information before posting or forwarding it on social media.“Appropriate legal action will be taken against individuals found spreading rumours or misinformation,” read the post of the Delhi Police. The clarification came after clashes broke out in New Delhi district during the “Chalo Sansad” protest, when demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament. According to police, at least 60 protesters and 118 police personnel were injured in the violence.
