Hyderabad: In a major push for affordable urban housing, Telangana govt on Monday launched the ‘Indiramma Indlu-LIG Flats’ scheme in the core urban region economy (CURE) area, offering 525 sq ft flats to the urban poor at a beneficiary cost of Rs 6 lakh, while the govt bears a Rs 5 lakh subsidy per unit.Launching the scheme at the secretariat, housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with ministers D Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin, said 7,680 flats would be constructed in the first phase across 16 assembly constituencies in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts.The flats, to be built on govt-owned land, are targeted for completion before next year’s Bonalu festival.The total cost of each flat is estimated at Rs 11 lakh. Beneficiaries will have to pay Rs 6 lakh in four instalments within a year, while the govt will directly pay its subsidy share to the contractor. Applicants need to deposit Rs 10,000 as earnest money, adjustable against their contribution if selected and refundable if not.The govt will issue a notification within the next two days, with applications open until Aug 10 through MeeSeva centres, the housing portal and WhatsApp at 8096958096. Applicants should pay Rs 100 application fee, be city residents for at least 10 years, should not own a house, flat or plot within the ORR/CURE area, and should not have benefited from a similar housing scheme earlier.If applications exceed available units, beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system after scrutiny and 360 degree verification. Thirty per cent of the flats will be reserved for women, along with reservations for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities. Beneficiaries cannot sell the allotted flats for 10 years, though they may avail housing loans by mortgaging them with banks.Unedited GFXFalse declaration, suppression of facts or duplicate application may lead to rejection, as per the document.After provisional allotment, field verification and stage payments, registration will be taken up and the house will be handed over.The beneficiary contribution of Rs 6 lakh can be paid in four installments of ₹1 lakh, ₹2 lakh twice and the balance amount during various stages of construction.
