In a new Instagram carousel, the actress posed in a mirror selfie showing off her new chop: an ultra short microbob with voluminous ends, paired with wispy bangs. The new trim can only be described as the perfect French girl bob—think Audrey Tautou in Amélie.

It would seem that Berry’s new micro bob is actually part of her preparations for a new film role. “Get ready…cooking up something special for ya with @ellie.foumbi 💥,” Berry wrote alongside the images. Ellie Foumbi is a film director and is currently working with Berry on Fleur, a film about a New York housewife who moves to Paris to become. an elite escort and dominatrix. Hence the chic French girl bob.

Though this is probably Berry’s shortest bob in years, the actress recently shared that she might go even shorter in the years to come. “Cutting my hair into a pixie actually got me my first acting job, so I have a love affair with that pixie,” Berry said during the February 6 episode of Vogue’s “The Run-Through“ podcast. “And I will go back to the pixie—when I’m ready to wear gray hair.”

She went on: “I will go back to a short pixie. I will do that. I’m not there yet, but one day, I will go back to my pixie when I want to wear gray hair. I want a gray pixie.”
