A few months ago, in a heartfelt interview with Elle, Megan Thee Stallion said, “The truth is that I started falling into a depression…I didn’t feel like making music.”The three time Grammy winner added, “I was in such a low place that I didn’t even know what I wanted to rap about.”The “Girls in the Hood” artist continued, “I wondered if people even cared anymore. There would be times that I’d literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out, and then I’d have to pull Megan Pete together and be Megan Thee Stallion.”For the last couple of years, Megan Thee Stallion has been vocal about her struggle with depression and dark thoughts about her life.Megan Thee Stallion’s feelings have also reflected in her music as her 2023 hit “Cobra” spoke about how she has been dealing with her depression.While a large part of Megan Thee Stallion’s depression could be contributed to her mother’s untimely death in 2019 after a fight against brain tumor, the popular artist also suffered when she filed a lawsuit against her former friend, Tory Lanez,For the unversed, back in 2020, Megan Thee Stallion was shot on her feet by Tory Lanez. Though the two were close friends at that point, things quickly became controversial as she filed a complaint against him. The three time Grammy winner has been public about how many of her close friends and peers in the music industry refused to believe her stance and accused her of lying.However, things worked out as Tory Lanez was imprisoned and has been serving a 10 year sentence in California.
