The Indian Navy has started the online application process for recruitment to Agniveer SSR, Agniveer MR and SSR (Medical) sailor posts for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. Candidates can submit their applications through the official recruitment portal from March 14, 2026 to April 06, 2026.The recruitment process is being conducted through the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2026. The eligible candidates are required to complete the application process through the official website, joinindiannavy.gov.in. The recruitment process will be carried out through multiple stages of selection.Recruitment structure and application processThe recruitment is being carried out under the Agniveer scheme for sailor positions in the Indian Navy. Applications for Agniveer SSR and Agniveer MR posts are open to both male and female candidates, while recruitment for SSR (Medical) sailor posts is limited to unmarried male candidates.The selection process will begin with computer-based Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2026. The candidates will then move to Physical Fitness Test (PFT), followed by Stage II written examination. Document verification and medical tests will be conducted in a later stage.Candidates selected through the recruitment process will undergo training at INS Chilka in Odisha.Important schedule for the recruitment processThe notification for the recruitment was issued on March 10, 2026. The online registration process has begun on 14th March 2026, and the registration process is open until 06th April 2026.The correction window for the submitted applications is from 10th April 2026, to 11th April 2026. The INET 2026 examination is expected to take place in May 2026, and the results are expected to be announced in May and June 2026.The rest of the recruitment process, including the Stage II examination, issue of call-up letters, and induction, will continue in 2026 and 2027 for the respective batches.Eligibility and age requirementsThe age requirements differ based on the batch. Candidates applying for Agniveer 01/2027 must be born between December 01, 2004 and May 31, 2009. Applicants for Agniveer 02/2027 and SSR (Medical) 02/2027 must be born between May 01, 2005 and October 31, 2009.For Agniveer MR, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50 per cent marks. Agniveer SSR applicants must have completed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics or possess a three-year diploma with a minimum of 50 per cent marks.Applicants for Agniveer SSR (Medical) must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and secured at least 50 per cent marks.Examination pattern and fitness standardsThe written examination for Agniveer SSR will consist of 100 questions covering English, Science, Mathematics and General Awareness to be completed within one hour. The Agniveer MR test will have 50 questions from Science, Mathematics and General Awareness with a duration of 30 minutes.The SSR (Medical) examination will include 100 questions in English, Science, Biology and General Awareness. All papers will be objective type and available in English and Hindi. A negative marking of 0.25 will apply for each incorrect answer.Candidates must also qualify the Physical Fitness Test, which includes a 1.6 kilometre run along with squats, push-ups and sit-ups. Separate standards apply for male and female candidates. The application fee for all categories is Rs. 550 and must be paid online.
