Funeral details have been released for late Jacksonville rapper Lil Poppa.
Lil Poppa, born Janarious Wheeler, died in Georgia on Feb. 18.
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the rapper, who passed at the age of 25, died from a gunshot wound to the head; his death was ruled a suicide.
According to a flyer posted on Instagram by XXL, the Jacksonville native will be laid to rest this Saturday, March 7 in his hometown. The funeral service will be held at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, located at 1118 W. Beaver St., and is open to the public, the church’s pastor Harry Williams confirmed with First Coast News.
Williams said an extreme large crowd is expected. The service will start at 10 a.m. and security will be “strictly enforced.”
“Out of respect for the family, phones, recording devices, Meta glasses, and cameras of any kind will not be permitted,” the funeral flyer states. “Guests who do not comply will be respectfully escorted out.”
In 2022, Lil Poppa signed with rapper Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group, marking a defining moment in his career. He released several fan favorites, including “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter” and “HAPPY TEARS,” along with projects such as “Almost Normal Again.” He had nearly one million followers on Instagram at the time of his death, and more than 600,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
