Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is at the centre of dating rumours after being spotted with musician Elias Rønnenfelt, as backlash grows over his controversial past

Jenna Ortega has been seen out and about with Danish musician Elias Rønnenfelt in recent weeks, but her link to him has sparked controversy because of his past.
Jenna, 23, was filmed in a viral clip with the 34-year-old Iceage frontman, where he had his arm around her. Following the footage and photos, his past scandals have resurfaced. One issue dates back to artwork Elias created for his band when he was 18-years-old, which included symbols linked to neo-Nazis and fascists. He later addressed the backlash in an interview with Pitchfork.
“When a lot of these allegations came out, we were dumbfounded,” he said. “Now I understand that we hold a responsibility on our shoulders to make it clear what we stand for.” It comes as Jenna recently opened up about her future on the Netflix show Wednesday.

Elias said the images were taken from an eighties film called Roller Blade and claimed he didn’t understand their meaning at the time.
“What some people took from it was not our intent. I hope that it’s very clear, and I think it is for anybody who has followed us, that we are most definitely not right-wing and we don’t have any sympathies or leanings to that side.”
The musician has also faced criticism over Iceage inviting a band called White N****** to perform at a festival they organised. “There’s no way of excusing this,” Elias said.
“They weren’t a band that had ever played before. They were some people that we knew were active in Antifa activism. I don’t know what the f*ck their intent was with that [band name].”
He added: “I f—king deeply regret that we failed to speak up there and prevent it, and that we failed to see how fcked up and harmful having a band… I’m embarrassed to have shared a stage with a band with that name.”
Elias said he believed at the time the name was meant to make a political point, even if it was offensive. Ortega has kept her personal life private and has not publicly confirmed any relationship.
In a 2023 interview, she opened up about why she avoids dating. “Maybe I am too obsessed with my work, but the idea of relationships stresses me out,” she said.
“And also being that vulnerable with someone and having to get to know someone that well and having someone see you for all that you are.”
“I’m not ready to be that vulnerable or trusting with someone.” Jenna Ortega has become one of Hollywood’s biggest young stars, going from Disney roles to global fame in Netflix hit Wednesday.
She’s also made a name for herself in horror films like Scream and X, and is now taking on new projects, including producing and plans to direct her own film.
