Rourkela: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested a 55-year-old junior accountant in the office of the district manager of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) Ltd, Sundargarh, for alleged possession of disproportionate assets.Based on searches conducted on properties of Rabindra Kumar Barik since Monday, he was found in possession of DA, including a multi storey building, one market complex and gym and a kalyan mandap in Balasore town, a building at Baripada town, four valuable plots in and around Balasore town, 175g of gold and deposits worth Rs 43.81 lakh, among others, whose sources he could explain satisfactorily.Five vigilance teams led by three DSPs, six inspectors and other supporting staff conducted the search operation at five locations linked to Barik.He was produced before the court of special judge (vigilance), Balasore, after a case was registered against Barik under the Prevention of Corruption Act.Barik worked as a junior accountant in OSCSC for about three decades in Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsingpur and Mayurbhanj districts. Since July 24, 2024, he has been working as a junior accountant in Sundargarh.
