Kathie Lee Gifford recently slammed The View because they haven’t invited her on the show to promote her new book, Rob Shuter has reported.
“Kathie Lee’s team had been pushing hard to get her on The View,” one television insider told Shuter for a Thursday, March 12 post on his Naughty But Nice Substack. “When the show passed, suddenly it became ‘vicious.’”
As Globe previously reported, the former Live with Regis and Kathie Lee host, 72, complained about the “viciousness” and divisiveness that has permeated talk shows lately on a March 9 appearance on the Tomi Lahren Is Fearless podcast.

“I mean, I used to be able to go on The View and talk to Joy [Behar] and Whoopi [Goldberg] and a lot of the other people there — Debbie Matenopoulos and I are still good pals — and never had a problem,” she said, adding that times have changed.
“I mean, everybody seems like they’re just miserable people now,” Gifford said. “I may make people miserable just talking the way we’re talking, but nobody will ever confuse me with a miserable person, right? I have joy personified.”
Her comments raised eyebrows behind the scenes, insiders told Shuter, noting that she’s been peddling her new book, Nero & Paul: How the Gospel of Grace Defeated the Ruler of Rome.

“It’s funny hearing her attack the show now,” one source said. “Just weeks ago she was practically begging to come on.”
“The producers simply weren’t interested,” the first insider explained. “They have a lot of people asking for that couch.”
“Getting turned down clearly stung,” the source added. “And now she’s hitting back.”
