Man dies after falling into fire pit during Muharram celebrations in Karnataka
28-year-old Devaraju succumbed to severe burn injuries

BALLARI: It has come to light that a person, who was injured after falling into Alayi Kuni, a fire pit, during Muharram festival in Kyadigehalu village on Friday, succumbed to burn injuries on Saturday.Deceased is identified as Devaraju, 28, a local resident. He allegedly fell into a fire pit while crossing it as part of Muharram ritual.He allegedly lost his balance and fell into the fire. Oil ignited the fire and he was immediately taken to the local hospital and later he was shifted to VIMS Hospital in Ballari.Kurugod police have registered a case and are investigating it. Devaraj was working as a warden in a private hostel in Nalapad, Mangaluru.He had allegedly come to his native to celebrate Muharram with family members. He was married last year.
