The smartphone comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery crammed into a body just 6.99mm thin and the capable Mediatek Dimensity chipset. But specs on paper only tell half the story. The mid-premium segment under Rs 40,000 is a brutal battleground in 2026. So does the Edge 70 Pro have what it takes to rise above the noise? We used the smartphone for sometime and here’s our complete review of the Moto Edge 70 Pro.
Design
Design is one department in which Motorola can never fail to impress you. The all new Moto Edge 70 Pro makes a strong impression with its sleek and premium design. The smartphone easily strikes a balance between aesthetics and durability. At just 6.99mm thin and weighing 190 grams, it is one of the slimmest and lightest smartphones in its category. Moto Edge 70 Pro comes with satin-luxe finish which not only improves the grip of the user but also offers an elegant look to the device. Motorola offers multiple Pantone-certified colour options, including Tea, Lily White, and Titan, each adding a distinct personality to the phone. The Moto Edge 70 comes with a quad-curved design display which seamlessly blends into the frame offering an immersive look to the user. The smartphone also comes with IP68/IP69 certifications and MIL-STD-810H protection, making the Edge 70 Pro resistant to dust, water, and everyday wear. The back panel houses Motorola’s signature plateau-style camera module, which sits flush and adds to the phone’s minimalist aesthetic. Attention to detail is evident in the tactile feedback of the buttons and the precision of the haptics, which feel tight and responsive. The slim profile combined with the curved edges makes the phone comfortable to hold, even during extended use.
Display
The Moto Edge 70 manages to deliver one of the most refined visual experiences in this price segment. The smartphone houses a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display which comes with 1272×2772 pixel resolution. The display offers up to 144Hz refresh rate and up to 5200 nits peak brightness levels. The screen on the Moto Edge 70 is also protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on top. The screen looks completely bezel-less when you have the phone in hand, featuring a quad-curved design that returns after the flat panel seen on the standard Edge 70. The display delivers vibrant hues, deep black tones, and clean colours and even minor details in dark scenes appear very sharp. Scrolling and navigation feel fluid and consistent. Colours are vibrant without appearing exaggerated, contrast levels are strong, and the display dims sufficiently for comfortable night-time viewing. The brightness is a particular standout as the screen remains clearly visible under a scorching summer sun, making it one of the best display panels available under Rs 40,000. The only thing which we felt is missing is the lack of HDR support for Netflix which is a missed opportunity for a screen of this calibre.
Performance
Moto Edge 70 Pro not only excels in the display department but it also delivers lag free performance. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. The smartphone comes in two variants — 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB. The smartphone feels fast and responsive in daily tasks. The app opened quickly and multitasking was also smooth across browsing and social media. The Dimensity 8500 Extreme’s 4nm design utilises a specialised octa-core configuration, including a high-performance 3.4GHz Cortex-A725 core, handling demanding Android 16 tasks and high-frame-rate gaming without stuttering. Coming to gaming, the Moto Edge 70 Pro will impress you with its capabilities as the smartphone is capable of sustaining 144fps gameplay in supported titles. Also, not to forget the Q1 chip which works in sync with the main chipset and helps in stabilising frames and reducing shutter. Another area in which the phone performs well is thermal management. The cooling setup of the Moto Edge 70 Pro helps in maintaining a stable performance during extended gaming sessions or heavy workloads. However, some users may still notice mild heating under extreme conditions. Importantly, the cooling system ensures that the phone doesn’t throttle aggressively, allowing sustained performance without major dips. Apart from gaming, the Edge 70 Pro proves reliable for creative tasks such as photo editing, video rendering, and productivity workflows. Moto Edge 70 Pro runs Android 16 operating system. The smartphone offers a near-stock Android feel. The UI is clean and also easy to navigate. The animations also appear to be smooth and there is minimal visual clutter. The smartphone also comes with customisation options which enable you to personalise your phone as per your liking. The AI features include the dedicated AI key, add functionality for tasks like note-taking, summarisation, and quick searches. Integration with tools such as Copilot and Perplexity is useful, with the note-taking feature working particularly well for extracting key points from long content. However, the software story is not entirely rosy. Pre-installed apps and recommendations are present throughout the interface. While most can be disabled, they chip away at the otherwise clean, minimal experience that Motorola has traditionally been celebrated for. On software support, Motorola promises three years of OS upgrades and five years of security patches.
Camera
Moto Edge 70 Pro features a versatile camera setup which is designed to deliver flagship-like experience at half the cost. The smartphone comes equipped with a triple rear camera which consists of a 50MP main sensor with LYTIA-710 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 50MP 122º ultra-wide autofocus camera and a multispectral sensor. There’s also a 50MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture. In daylight conditions, the primary sensor captures sharp, vibrant images with good dynamic range. Colours lean slightly toward saturation, giving photos a lively look that many users find appealing. The OIS helps maintain clarity in handheld shots, reducing blur and improving low-light performance. The ultra-wide lens adds versatility, though detail levels are not as strong as the main sensor, especially at the edges of the frame. The telephoto lens provides decent zoom capabilities, though it struggles in dim lighting.
Low-light photography is where Motorola has made noticeable improvements. The Super Night Mode enhances brightness and detail, producing usable shots even in challenging conditions. However, some reviewers note occasional inconsistencies in skin tone accuracy and noise levels compared to rivals in the same price bracket. With moderate use, the phone lasts a full day and can extend further. Even under heavier usage, it comfortably gets through a day. Charging from near empty to full takes slightly over an hour, which is adequate. The 90W TurboPower charging can deliver 12 hours of battery life in just 9 minutes of charge which is genuinely impressive. Another interesting feature of the Moto Edge 70 is its advanced cooling system which indirectly works in favour of battery longevity. The cooling systems help in keeping the thermals under control by working with a 7000 mm² vapour chamber. Also, the multi-layer heat dissipation enables the smartphone to avoid excessive heat which is one of the causes for battery drain.

Moto Edge 70 Pro comes with a starting price tag of Rs 38,999. At this price point, Moto Edge 70 Pro is a compelling mid-premium package that gets the fundamentals right. Its ultra-slim design, dependable large 6,500mAh battery, bright colour-rich AMOLED display, and powerful Dimensity 8500 Extreme SoC for smooth everyday performance make it stand out from the crowd.
