NAGPUR: A voter turnout of 51 per cent was recorded in the Nagpur civic polls held on Thursday, a civic official said.Among those who exercised their franchise during the day were Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister Nitin Gadkari and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
“Voter turnout of 51 per cent was recorded at 5:30pm,” the Nagpur Municipal Corporation official said.A total of 2483112 persons were eligible to vote, including 1226690 males and 1256166 females.There are 151 seats in 38 wards of the corporation. The BJP is contesting on 143 seats and its ally Shiv Sena on eight seats. The Congress is contesting independently on 151 seats.In the 2017 NMC polls, the BJP won 108 out of the 151 seats, Congress 28, BSP 10, (undivided) Shiv Sena two and (undivided) NCP one.
