Navalgund (Dharwad): A 10-year-old student died after falling from the first floor of his school building at a private educational institution in Navalgund town of Dharwad district, on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Akash Neelannavar, a Class IV student of Vidyajyothi Primary School. According to police, Akash sustained severe injuries after falling from the first-floor balcony of the school building. He was rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries before he could receive medical attention.The exact circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear. Police said it is yet to be ascertained whether the boy accidentally fell from the building or was pushed by someone. The incident triggered outrage among parents, who staged a protest, and alleged that the balcony walls were not high enough to ensure the safety of children and demanded a thorough investigation into the tragedy.Navalgund police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an inquiry. The body was shifted to KIMS Hospital, Hubballi, for post-mortem examination.
