The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has kicked off the process to evaluate the possibility of adding a third runway at the Navi Mumbai International Airport, issuing a bid invitation for a techno-commercial feasibility study, an official told PTI on Sunday. The state planning authority has launched an e-tender for the consultancy assignment, calling for online Requests for Proposal (RFP) from eligible single entities, joint ventures or consortiums that meet the stipulated criteria. “The consultancy assignment is aimed at assessing the technical and commercial viability of developing a third runway at the Navi Mumbai International Airport, keeping in view future air traffic growth and operational requirements. The scope of work falls under CIDCO’s Transport and Airport (T & C) department,” the official said.CIDCO has set a six-month timeframe for the study, with the consultant to be selected through the Least Cost Selection (LCS) method in line with procurement norms. The official added that tender documents and the bidding schedule will be available on the CIDCO e-tendering portal from December 16. The feasibility review is expected to be a critical input for long-term capacity planning at the greenfield airport, designed to ease pressure on Mumbai’s existing airport and support rising passenger and cargo movement across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
