Need to Know: Bruins at Panthers

Date:

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Bruins will be aiming for their fifth straight win when they kick off a four-game road trip on Thursday night against the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena. Boston finished March winning six of seven and posted a 10-3-3 record for the month, placing the Black & Gold eight points clear of a playoff spot.

“What I liked about [our play in March], we stayed with our game, with the program, going back to January, February,” head coach Marco Sturm said following Thursday’s morning skate at the Panthers’ training facility. “I was not too happy to have [the Olympic Break], honestly, in February because I felt like we had a good thing going and I didn’t want to really mess it up.

“But having said that now, the guys came back exactly the same. It took us a little bit, I think, in February. But I think now we are back on track here in March and that shows in the results.”

Fraser Minten – who has been riding on the top line with Marat Khusnutdinov and David Pastrnak – is enjoying the intensity of the stretch run as Boston eyes a playoff berth.

“It’s sick, it’s so fun every game,” said Minten. “It’s such high emotions, high intensity. It’s why we play the game, why we want to be out there. I’ve been loving every game here down the stretch…we have lots of good, competitive guys that want to win and their resilient if you want to sum it up in a word…we all get along well, just trying to play to win and never say die.”
