JAIPUR: The Rajasthan state consumer disputes redressal commission has dismissed revision petitions from Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala regarding allegations of misleading advertisements. The decision, issued Monday, was made by a bench led by Justice Devendra Kachhawaha, along with judicial member Arun Kumar Agrawal and member Liyaqat Ali.Khan and the company challenged prior orders from a district consumer commission, asserting that actions over misleading ads should only be initiated by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), New Delhi, or authorised officers, claiming that the complainant does not qualify as a “consumer.” However, the state commission countered that centralising such powers in New Delhi could hinder effective consumer relief across India. The district commission’s prior rulings from Jan 6 and 15, had already restricted Rajshree Pan Masala’s promotional activities and required court supervision for obtaining Khan’s signature.
