Park Min-chul, a “divorce lawyer,” explained the reality of the legal market by revealing his fee structure.
In the recently broadcast “You Quiz on the Block,” lawyer Park said while talking about his 18-year career, “Each lawyer has a fixed rate (unit price per hour).”
He said, “It’s hard to say exactly, but it’s between one and a half sheets,” and Yoo Jae-seok, who heard it, estimated, “Is it about 1.3 million won?”
Lawyer Park explained, “It is calculated as a unit price per hour, but it is not actually a structure that works for an hour a day. In some cases, the consultation ends in 6-10 minutes.”
Earlier, in the past, he said in “Knowing Brothers,” regarding his fees, “I charge each lawyer by multiplying the amount and time set. I’m more than one page,” he said, drawing attention.
Lawyers at large law firms set “rate” rates ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of won per hour depending on their careers and expertise, according to the legal community. However, the actual fee depends on the difficulty of the case, the size of the dispute, and the duration of the lawsuit, not on the simple sum of time.
In particular, divorce and housekeeping cases are often prolonged by a combination of property division, custody, and alimony, which inevitably increases the cost burden. Celebrities and high-value asset cases are known to have relatively high fees due to their complex interests.
Lawyer Park also mentioned the intensity of his work. “I’ve been working all night since I joined the company,” he said, explaining the heavy work environment. Due to the nature of the divorce case, it is explained that a high level of emotional labor follows as it is necessary to deal with emotional conflicts beyond legal disputes.
