Ranchi: A community hall in Hindpiri locality of the city was sealed by Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Monday. RMC officials said the building, located in ward number 22, was originally built for social and community use but had been operating as ‘Aman Community Hall’, a private banquet hall, by influential local individuals in violation of the municipal rules.RMC said unauthorized construction had been carried out on its premises. “The hall was kept locked and locals were denied access to the public facility. During inspection, staff linked to the private banquet operation were found working inside, while the hall was reportedly used for weddings and private events, with money being collected from the public,” the civic body said in a statement.The inquiry also revealed that the ward supervisor posted in the area for nearly a decade had failed to report the illegal use, prompting disciplinary action and his removal from the ward.The building was found to be in a dilapidated condition, with poorly maintained infrastructure and unusable toilets. RMC said a review of all community halls in the city will be held soon.
