River Oaks Houston shooting: Traveler’s Table owners identified in murder-suicide scene on Kingston Street, spokesperson confirms

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The family in apparent murder-suicide scene in River Oaks has been identified as Matthew and Thy Mitchell, owners of Traveler’s Table, according to the hospitality group.

The Houston Police Department is calling Matthew, age 52, the suspect in the case.

Matthew and Thy, along with their two kids, were found dead Monday evening after a welfare check call, according to reports.. Authorities said a babysitter and a family member reported not hearing from the Mitchells.

The kids’ names were not released, but authorities said they were 8 and 4 years old.

Neighbors at the scene told ABC13 they noticed some irregularities on Monday before the scene was uncovered.

Police believe the incident was isolated to the Mitchell family, but are asking for anyone with additional information to contact HPD’s homicide division.
