The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued a new notice about the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025 Tier, I results. The explanation was prompted by a number of candidates who queried inconsistencies between their scores and the released cut, off figures. The Commission has thus elaborated the matter and also given the assurance to the candidates that the lists of the shortlisted ones are still correct. On the other hand, the Commission has explained that although the lists of the shortlisted candidates are accurate, there was a mistake in one of the cut, off tables that had been leaked to the public.
Why candidates raised objections
The SSC uploaded the official result write-up of CGLE 2025 Tier-I on December 18, 2025. Individual marks of qualified and non-qualified candidates were made available on January 9, 2026. After the marks were made public, some of the candidates approached the Commission with their complaints. These candidates claimed that their names were not found in any of the shortlisted lists, which they included List I, List II, and List III. Most of them claimed that their scores were higher than the cut-off marks given in the result notice. The matter resulted in puzzlement and worry among the aspirants getting ready for the next stage.
SSC reviews the matter
The SSC stated that it examined the matter comprehensively. The review covered category-wise cut-offs, candidate marks, and all shortlisted lists. After verification, the Commission confirmed that the evaluation process was accurate. The SSC clarified that List I, List II, and List III annexed with the Tier-I result write-up are correct. These lists determine eligibility for the Tier-II examination. No error was found in the preparation of these lists.
Error identified in cut-off table
While the shortlisted lists were found to be in order, the SSC admitted that an inadvertent error occurred in Paragraph 5 of the result write-up. The issue was related to “List-3 – Candidates shortlisted in CGLE Tier-I for appearing in Tier-II (Paper-I) for all posts other than Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II.”The published table under this section did not reflect the correct cut-off marks and the correct number of candidates available for some categories. This incorrect information led to a discrepancy between the candidates’ marks and the released cut, offs.
Revised category-wise cut-off table
In order to resolve the misunderstanding, SSC has issued the corrected table. The revised panel gives the accurate cut, off marks and the real number of candidates available in the categories.

Note: The total includes 29 withheld candidates who have not been included yet.
No change in shortlisting or selection
The SSC has clearly stated that the correction does not affect the selection or shortlisting of candidates. No names have been added or removed from the shortlisted lists. The clarification is limited strictly to correcting the published cut-off data.Candidates whose names do not appear in the lists will not be considered shortlisted based on the earlier incorrect table.

Candidates are advised to rely only on official notices published on ssc.gov.in. Those who have qualified Tier-I should continue preparing for Tier-II.
