President Donald Trump issued a series of social media posts early Friday, April 24, 2026, accusing former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of treason. The messages, shared via Truth Social after midnight, suggested legal action against the former officials based on recently discussed declassified documents.
Trump utilized a Fox News video clip to support his claims, which alleged that the Obama administration coordinated a campaign to link his 2016 run to Russian interference. The social media activity included calls for the 2020 election results to be discarded and for the resignation of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“Declassified documents reveal former CIA Director John Brennan briefed then-President Obama on Hilary Clinton’s purported plan to smear then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016,” said Bret Baier, Fox News anchor.
The President also shared content from other social media users that advocated for the prosecution of political opponents. One shared post emphasized the necessity of legal consequences for alleged treasonous acts.
“time we prosecuted someone for treason and send a message,” read the post.
Trump further expressed frustration with the lack of legal proceedings against his predecessors by sharing a meme of a supporter holding a protest sign. The meme questioned the delay in making arrests related to the 2016 investigation.
“Stop Telling Us Who Broke The Law & Start Telling Us Who Was Arrested,” the meme stated.
The President then turned his attention to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which he characterized as a fraudulent organization following recent legal developments. He claimed the group has been involved in a long-standing political scam.
“The Southern Poverty Law Center, one of the greatest political scams in American History, has been charged with FRAUD,” wrote Trump, President.
While Trump alleges a conspiracy, previous findings from the 2020 Bipartisan Senate Intelligence Report and the Mueller investigation documented multiple links between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian individuals. These reports detailed 10 instances of potential obstruction of justice but did not establish a criminal conspiracy, noting that investigators were hindered by false statements from various campaign associates.
