‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ starring Pawan Kalyan continues its theatrical run with steady numbers at the box office. Steady run despite slower pace

The occupancy remained in the range of 20–22 percent during the weekend days. The film is now inching closer to the Rs 70 crore mark in India net collections.

Story and core theme

Directed by Harish Shankar, the film follows a strong, message-driven narrative. It tells the story of a tribal boy who grows up inspired by his teacher, who names him Bhagat Singh. As he grows older, he stands against injustice and takes on powerful enemies. Pawan Kalyan’s swag and screen presence is surely the highlight of the movie.

Cast and performances

Apart from Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, the film features Sreeleela, Raashii Khanna, and R. Parthiban in key roles. The film has received mixed reviews from critics. ETimes noted, “Director Harish Shankar opts for a familiar commercial template, where hero elevation takes precedence over narrative freshness. The film repeatedly sets up moments for Bhagat Singh to dominate the screen and to be fair, Pawan Kalyan delivers in those pockets. There are stretches where his presence alone lifts the scene, reminding you why he continues to command such a strong following. But between these moments, the film struggles to hold its ground. The first half moves along predictable lines, with comedy that doesn’t always land and sequences that feel more functional than engaging. A few elevation blocks work, but they are not enough to fully sustain interest.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
