KOLKATA: A woman from the Sundarbans carried her specially abled husband on her back to attend a public grievance meeting organised by chief minister Suvendu Adhikari. She reportedly did so to seek assistance for an electric vehicle and housing support from the CM at the meeting held at the BJP office in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The couple travelled to Kolkata to present their ongoing hardships directly before the chief minister during the ‘Janta Darbar’, news agency ANI reported.“I have come from the Sundarbans. I am helpless and in need of an electric vehicle. She (my wife) did not receive any benefits from Lakshmir Bhandar, and as a person with a disability, I went up to the stage to request a house of my own. The CM assured us that our problems will be solved within seven days,” Sanyasi Mandal said.He further said that they raised the issue of non-receipt of benefits under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme and sought housing assistance. The public grievance meeting was organised as part of the state government’s outreach efforts, allowing citizens from different parts of West Bengal to directly present their issues before the chief minister and concerned authorities.Earlier on Monday, 35 new ministers took oath at Lok Bhawan in Kolkata as part of a cabinet expansion. The new cabinet reflects a balance of representation across 13 districts.(With ANI inputs)
