Times News NetworkBhopal: A verbal altercation broke out between a BJP district vice-president and a traffic inspector during a helmet-checking drive at Police Control Room Square in the city on Sunday. The argument, which lasted around two-and-a-half minutes, was captured on video and later went viral on social media.The dispute began after traffic police stopped a motorcyclist for riding without a helmet. The rider allegedly tried to connect the traffic inspector over phone with BJP district vice-president Abhay Pandit, but the officer declined to speak. Pandit then reached the spot, following which a heated exchange ensued.In the viral video, Pandit is seen accusing traffic police of illegally collecting money from motorists. Traffic inspector Sanjay Suryavanshi is heard asking him not to obstruct official duty or misbehave with police personnel, warning that legal action could be initiated for interfering in government work.A crowd gathered at the intersection as the argument continued. Despite the confrontation, police issued a challan to the rider for violating helmet rules. Suryavanshi later said he was only performing his duty and was unaware of the identity of the person who confronted him. He added that the rider also had three pending traffic challans.Times
