In a closely fought contest in Manamadurai (Assembly Constituency 187), Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Elangovan D secured victory after all 27 rounds of EVM counting. Elangovan polled 69,971 votes, winning by a narrow margin of just 1,208 votes over his nearest rival. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Tamilarasi A finished second with 68,763 votes, keeping the race extremely close till the final round. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Balaganapathy V came in third with 42,610 votes.
