MDSU, Ajmer civic body sign MoU for credit-linked internships

Ajmer: Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ajmer Municipal Corporation (AMC) under which students will receive academic credit for internships.The internships will provide undergraduate and postgraduate students hands-on training in urban planning, solid waste management, public health, civic administration, community development, water conservation and sustainable development.Vice-Chancellor Prof Suresh Kumar Agarwal said the initiative aligns with the University Grants Commission’s internship guidelines and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.“Undergraduate and postgraduate students will receive practical training in projects related to urban planning and civic administration. The collaboration will provide direct work experience, research opportunities and academic exposure in urban governance, community development and sustainable development,” he said.As part of the agreement, MDSU and AMC will undertake joint research projects to address local civic issues. The university’s academic expertise will be combined with the municipal body’s field experience and data to promote research and innovation in sustainable urban development, environmental protection and community welfare. The agreement will remain in force for three years.A nodal officer from the university’s dept of environmental science and remote sensing will coordinate the internships and joint projects, while AMC will appoint officers from its depts to mentor students and issue completion certificates.
